Seems this second period of isolation is very different. Whereas previously
we'd acted as a community displaying outwardly positive acts of resilience, now we are all hunkering down in isolation.
My thoughts are with the elderly, the fragile, those living alone, people with disabilities, families struggling with unemployment, home schooling and restricted physical /social activities. I am also concerned for the dignity of the individual for whom a mask prevents the sharing of smiles and positive responses. It is at times like this where we draw upon technology, smart phones, tablets, the internet.
While I haven't met most in my neighbourhood (Fyansford) or online communities (Geelong in Historical Pictures, Fyansford Community Noticeboard, Fyansford.com....) I do feel that I know quite a few of you and I am thankful for our ongoing interactions. I will use this page to share interactive ideas with people within my Fyansford.com network.

We all have something that makes us feel alive, a pursuit that adds a little extra meaning to life, an activity that gives us a sense of fulfillment and purpose.
I count myself especially lucky in that my life in education involved my three primary passions ~ teaching, writing and photography, Post retirement I continued to enjoy these passions.
My darling partner in life, Mary, enjoys cooking and more-recently knitting. However, it would be true to say that oil-painting has been her primary life-long passion.
I have a friend who enjoys surfing the net searching for beautiful photos, pieces of artwork and interest-rousing oddities which take his fancy. He then posts these online for the enjoyment of others.
Another has enjoyed a long-term interest in blog-writing. More recently she has embarked on researching family ancestry.
For another the focus is on the exploration of creative photography; and when I say creative photography I mean out-of-this-world creativity.
what turns you on?
I can't help but be amazed at how hobbies have changed.
Does anyone still collect stamps, coins, model cars, engage in train-spotting, amateur astronomy, bonsai, pottery, ....
like the rest of the world,

I am putting Fyansford.com on hold
for the foreseeable future
and diverting my attention elsewhere.
As a young teenager, back in the late '50s early '60s, one of my favourite TV programs featured a gunslinger called Paladin, his tag "Have gun will travel".
In 1964 I took up my first teaching position in a now non-existent rural school located in Woorarra (south Gippsland) with 17-24 pupils.
Have to say I loved every year of my 35 years teaching. Could say my tag was "Have pupils will teach". Corny but true...
Along the line I taught
in Australia, India and England.
wrote a number of books for teachers and parents.
Perhaps, I can help some in our community stuck at home with kids
and lots of time on their hands.
TIMES HAVE CHANGED
no longer on line
Fyansford.com will return - somewhere down life's road...
In the meantime, and in between time, some of you might like to check Let's Game!
One month later... a postmortem
Well, I gave it a go.....
Nothing lost! Nothing gained!
I did enjoy walking down memory lane, exploring old ideas and trying to resurrect them.
While there were encouraging signs, they were not sufficient to maintain Let's Game!
However, motivation always leads to new paths, opens doors and generates excitement..
Hence, Archie walks... which has proven very popular.
And, so, I see the detour as being a worthwhile venture with positive results
