By using the binding of 125I-toxin A and 125I-toxin B to glycoproteins from rat intestinal mucosa, we observed that the two toxins bind to similar, distinct, and specific glycoprotein-binding sites. By use of the binding of 125I-toxin A to rat intestinal mucosa, we determined that toxin A binds to a membrane-associated glycoprotein with a mol wt of 76,000. The specificity of toxin A binding to this site could be modulated by the proteolytic degradation of intestinal glycoprote
